Our Bed and Breakfast is located in the heart of Calabria, in Scigliano, between the sea and the mountains. The building that houses the B&B was built at the beginning of the 1800s and is located in the Diano district of Scigliano. This place has an interesting history, as from 1934 to 1993 a wood-burning oven, located on the ground floor of the building, provided bread to the entire town of Scigliano and the surrounding areas.
We have renovated the interior of the building and now the B&B is located in this historic and welcoming place. A terrace with a view of the valley below is at your disposal for breakfast or to enjoy the sun on hot days.
Scigliano is a hilly town that stretches from a minimum altitude of 200 meters above sea level (Roman Bridge 2nd century BC, under the Lupia hamlet) to a maximum of 1,000 meters (Agrifoglio hamlet in the heart of Presila). Here you can admire the uncontaminated Mediterranean flora and fauna that includes species such as the buzzard, cuckoo, great spotted woodpecker, marten, fox, and badger. Numerous trails wind through the surrounding woods where you can find natural springs of fresh water and picnic areas.
The urban area of Scigliano consists of nine hamlets, many of which preserve their ancient medieval village with convents, churches, palaces, and houses.
Scigliano is a perfect destination for an alternative, ecological, and cultural vacation. Easily accessible are the cities of Cosenza and Catanzaro, the Sila National Park with its lakes (Ampollino, Arvo, and Cecita) and villages (Longobucco, Santa Severina), and to the north, the Pollino National Park with its beautiful villages (Morano, Civita, Altomonte) and canyons (Raganello). Not far away are also seaside towns such as Pizzo, Tropea, Scilla, Amantea, and Fiumefreddo, with their picturesque ancient villages overlooking the sea. In addition, from Scigliano it is possible to take a trip to the Aeolian Islands, between Calabria and Sicily, by ferry from Vibo Marina or Tropea (A3 towards Reggio, exit Pizzo).
